Moving: Both Physically and Virtually
Yeah, you know that we're headed to Texas in a week, but did you know that we're moving the blog, too?Why the move?
There are a number of reasons, really. But the straw that broke the camel's back was offline blogging. I looked into several programs for offline blogging so that I could write my blog entries and upload them when I could find an Internet connection. Most of them claimed to support Blogger, but the few that would even connect also had some serious negatives in terms of available features when paired with Blogger.
Also, due to my own stupidity, I got my Google Adsense account disabled. Even after appealing, they decided to leave it turned off. This effectively dashed my dreams of making money through YouTube videos and blog posts.
Additionally, when I tried to make some changes to the domain name that I used to have for this blog (theratracelosers.com), I discovered that while I was paying for the domain, I effectively had no control over it. I tried numerous times to wrest control of the domain that I supposedly owned from Google, and each time I was thwarted by a layer of "security" features that there was no way for me to satisfy. I was unable to get anyone at Google to help me. My pleas for assistance went wholly unanswered. So, I let the domain name expire. In the spring of 2015, I may have the opportunity to re-register the name. If that happens, you may see the return of the old TheRatraceLosers.com name.
When I found out that the tool (Windows Live Writer) would do a nice job when paired with WordPress, I decided to make the switch.
